| About the Club |
|
Southgate Compton is a friendly, family-orientated local cricket club, much like "village clubs" of old. We play League, friendly and colts cricket and are based at Cockfosters, on the borders of Barnet, Hertfordshire and Middlesex. The clubhouse, which includes a bar, changing and catering facilities is in Chalk Lane within an easy walk of Cockfosters tube. We currently run 2 Saturday Sides who play in the Saracens Hertfordshire League. The 1st XI were promoted to division 5 last year and the 2nd XI is in division 11. On Sundays we run one side on a regular basis plus other teams for our younger players. There is an annual tour to Devon. 2010 was our 50th year, when we played 4 fixtures against Devon clubs. We run 3 colts sides aged under 11s, under 13s and under 15s who play in the Middlesex Colts League. We offer an extensive coaching and training program during both the summer and winter months. Training night is Mondays at 6pm at the club. Please come along. At the other end of the age spectrum, we run a Veterans XI (over 40's) playing a hand-full of games against local clubs. Social events are organised regularly at the clubhouse such as quizzes, discos, games nights, and barbecues. Our annual awards dinner is held in late October after the season. A newsletter is issued every week during the Summer with reports, news and teamsheets for the following week. If you are interested in playing, please contact the club - see the contact section.
